ISLAMABAD , Feb 21: Minister Incharge of the Prime Minister's Secretariat Sher Afgan on Wednesday informed the National Assembly that Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) had purchased 65 vehicles worth over Rs90.52 million which were under use of its senior officials and other staff members.
The information was placed before the House by the minister in a written reply to a question of MNA Abdul Ghani Talpur of the People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP). <more>
EU hotel group to invest in Pakistan
MULTAN , Feb 6: French ambassador Regis de Belenet said on Tuesday a leading hotel business group in the European Union would invest in Pakistan to build more than 10 hotels in partnership with other investors.
The ambassador was addressing a ceremony at the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He said Accor was a leading hotel group in the EU and one of the leading in the world.

KARACHI , Feb 8: President Gen Pervez Musharraf said here on Thursday that Pakistan offered the best investment environment in the region.
"The investment has grown by 1,200 per cent since 1999 and this will cross $ 4 billion this year," the president told a select gathering at the ground-breaking ceremony of Rs11 billion twin-tower building Karachi Financial Tower (KFT), being built by Enshaa-NLC, a joint venture between UAE Enshaa Holding Ltd and National Logistic Cell (NLC) at the Governor House. <more>

KARACHI, Feb 14: Entrepreneurs from Qatar plan to invest seven billion dollars in different projects in Karachi including five star hotels, modern shopping plazas, residential and offices buildings, 47 stories IT tower, mass corridors and cement plant.
An entrepreneurs delegation led by Sheikh Nasir Al-Ansari, on Wednesday called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and expressed interest in investing in development projects. The governor briefed them about investment opportunities available. <more>

Quake safety measures: Jica for new town outside Muzzafarabad
ISLAMABAD , Feb 20: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has proposed to develop a new satellite town outside Muzzafarabad in order to keep the population safe from future earthquakes.
JICA has prepared a study and master plan specifically for the capital city of Azad Kashmir , which, if properly implemented, is earthquake-resistant and according to the requirements of the people.
The plan - Urgent development study on rehabilitation and reconstruction in Muzzafarabad city - aims at providing policy guidelines in rehabilitation and reconstruction of Muzzafarabad, which was destroyed by the earthquake in 2005. <more>
